Participate Film Academy redefines what a film school is all about. We are a leader in experiential teaching methods with a strong commercial focus. Industry professionals mentor our students in the art, the craft and the business of filmmaking by assigning the whole class to work on an actual feature length film.
In just 12 months, part time, you will gain on set, practical experience and a feature film credit, which makes you very employable within the industry.
You will also share in the producer's profits from the sale of the Movie.
Working closely together with the acting team, you will learn the skills it takes to produce a full length movie while on set. You will graduate with your own show reel and feature film.
The feature film course also covers other vital activities related to the film industry; the running of festivals, promotional ideas, the making of documentaries and your very own T.V show which you'll be apart of.
Whilst its methodology is a world-first concept, Participate has designed a curriculum that provides a thorough grounding in all aspects of filmmaking: story development (writing), pre-production, production (acting, directing, filming), post-production (editing, sound mixing, special effects, etc.) and even marketing and distribution. You will get an overall feel for film making.
Participate's philosophy is based on the belief that top quality education in filmmaking must not only provide you with the essential knowledge, experience and (feature) film credits, but also, the business acumen to get ahead in order to meet basic industry standards and attract investors for your own future film ventures.
So who writes this feature film that you will make?
The feature film chosen for development is selected on a democratic basis by the full student body (including production & acting students). All students have equal opportunities to pitch their story ideas in front of their class mates. The class votes on the synopsis and the story is then work shopped and produced into a full length screen play ready for production.
Throughout the course you will be mentored by industry professionals from Australia, including among others actors; Russel Boyd (DOP & Oscar Winner: Master & Commander, Ghost Rider), David Gribble (DOP: The World's Fastest Indian), Jerry Jeffress (Academy Award winner, Special Effects: Raiders of the Lost Ark, Star Wars), Jim Muro (DOP: Crash, Swordfish, X-Men), Lewis Teague (Director Jewel of the Nile, Nash Bridges) Eugene Lazarev (Actor - The Sum Of All Fears, The Saint).
