After having founded Mink Magazine, an online publication for designers, actors and musicians, Monica Kade wanted more. In May this year the actress featuring in three Participate Films in 2006, 2007 and 2008, made the move to the U S of A to further her acting career. Upon her arrival she was thrown a curve-ball with the realisation that while the rental price in New York are high, employment is at a low.
My affair with New York City started about four months ago.
In the beginning it was amazing, it was everything you could have possibly imagined. The bright shiny lights, the buzzing yellow cabs, the skyline of super tall buildings that surround you whilst lying on the grass in central park and let’s not forget the incredible sunsets.
But as the days rolled on I realised that this is how NYC captures each mistress.
It wines and dines you in its surrounding glory and BHAM! Before we know it we’re too far in to get out.
Nevertheless, New York is full of opportunity. Monica has taken up many acting classes and is actively pursuing auditions and in October she attended the premiere of Michael Jackon’s This is It. Things have been on the look up.
Today I gained in the way that everything just seemed to fall into alignment. I spoke to some great people, wrote, found an apartment, resigned from my old job and immediately have a new one, plus my interactions with some friends were wonderful.
